He thinks they might have been OEM m5 wheels. Hamman makes a wheel similar but definetly different. It's hard to say without actually looking at them or seeing a better picture. They're not OEM, that's for sure. OEM M5 wheels, from any generation, have never looked like that and come in 19", or would fit on your car due to some serious offset issues.
I don't know what "seams" he would be referring to, unless they are multi-piece wheels, which it doesn't look like they are. Judging by the tremendous lip, it looks like they're some trendy wheels out of Italy. Italy is known for making wheels that look like that and don't break the bank.
You're right, I doubt you would ever be able to find a replacement, since a lot of foreign wheel manufacturers produce a wheel for 6 months or a year and then never make it again.
